ENGAGEMENT SHOOT: Cam & Daphne

Okay, here it goes.

Welcome to my little corner of the internet! For years, I’ve taken photos for friends and family just for fun. Time and time again, people have told me, “You should really take this seriously.” I never thought much of it—until recently.

In Japanese culture, there’s a concept that gave me my “aha” moment: Ikigai. It loosely translates to “reason for being”—the thing that gets you out of bed in the morning. It sits at the intersection of what you love, what you're good at, what the world needs, and what you can be paid for. Powerful, right?

For me, I’ve discovered that I actually have two Ikigais.

Most of my close friends know my main career is being an elementary school teacher. From September to June, teaching is what I love, what I’m good at, and what the world absolutely needs.

But then July and August roll around—and let’s just say, my determined, hard-working Capricorn energy can’t sit still for long.

This summer has been full of engagements among my friends, and I started offering to take photos for them. After photographing Cam and Daphne, something clicked. I realized that photography isn’t just something I enjoy — it’s something I might actually have a real talent for. And the more I do it, the more I fall in love with it.

My dream is to see my photos hanging in people’s homes, capturing their most meaningful moments. Engagements, weddings, family portraits, maternity shoots, newborn sessions, landscapes—you name it, I want to shoot it.

So thank you, Cam and Daphne, for giving me the confidence to turn a passing thought into a real pursuit. This is the start of something new—and I’m so glad you’re here for it.
